The committee of Loughgiel Shamrocks have been contacted by supporters from our own club and from other clubs as you can see in the comment below which was recently received in our guest book on our club website, regarding the behaviour from some of our support primarily down to the abusive language directed towards referees and astonishingly against our own players.
''would just like to say how disgusted i am with some of your grown adult supportes both men and woman. went down to watch the cham match v c,dall hurling and to the camogie champ v dunloy. well the language hurled towards both refs was nothing but abuse.
both refs were everyname from b......s to f.....s to c..t that wasnot enough they were then brandished tramps and gypsies. with so many children running around this sort of language and abuse has to be stopped. your club should be remembered as all ireland champs not as a club that hails abuse and blame to all refs that happen to be in charge the matches yous get beat in''
As a club we do not and will not tolerate this type of abuse or any type of abuse towards referees, visiting players and coaches as well as our own players and coaches.
Loughgiel Shamrocks want to promote a positive atmosphere in our grounds, an atmosphere that supporters can voice their opinions on play and decisions in a manner befitting a club such as ours and one that visiting teams, supporters and referees look forward too. We have a large junior support and do not want them to witnesses language of a unsatisfactory nature but instead for them to experience a game that they will fully enjoy.
The committee will be monitoring this situation closely.
We ask all our loyal support to aid us in these measures so that our support can be the talk of the county and the country for the right reasons.
