The Cross and Passion College Senior camogie team chose The Shane Mulholland Foundation as their nominated Charity for their camogie 2018 strip.
Shane Mulholland, a native of Loughgiel, was at the time of his death in a road accident in 2015 a senior hurler with Fermanagh and a recently appointed Hurling Development Officer in Cavan.
Shane would have been 30 on the 1st January this year and the number 30 jersey was presented to his mother Maria following the team’s success in Sunday’s Ulster Senior final when they defeated St Louis Ballymena by 0-8 to 1-3. Coincidentally Shane was a past pupil of St Louis.
Maria thanked the girls for highlighting the work of the foundation, which helps to promote and encourage the playing of gaelic games at juvenile level in the Ulster counties.
Senior team captain, Finvola McVeigh, who presented the jersey explained,
"we were supported by the foundation when we got to the All-Ireland Final last year with our Junior Camogie team, and the girls wanted ‘to give something back’.
"We hope to help promote the work of the Shane Mulholland Foundation throughout Ulster and beyond, as we progress to the All-Ireland semi-finals against Presentation College, Thurles next month.”
